What TerminalDock collects, why, and the third parties involved.

Last updated: April 23, 2026.

This page explains what TerminalDock collects, why, and which third parties touch your data. We try to keep it short and accurate. If anything here is unclear, email hello@terminaldock.com.

What we collect

  • Account information. If you sign in, we receive your name, email address, and avatar from your identity provider. We store these to identify you across sessions and to credit submissions.
  • Submissions. When you submit a tool, we store the form contents (tool name, URL, repository link, kind, optional note) along with the submitter email you provide so we can contact you about the listing.
  • Newsletter. If you opt in to email updates, we store your email address with our email provider. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
  • Aggregate analytics. We log anonymous, aggregated page views, referrers, and country-level location to understand which content is useful. No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no individual profiles.

Third parties we share data with

We use a small number of providers to run the site. Each one only sees the minimum data needed to do its job.

  • AutoSend. Sends transactional email (sign-in links, submission confirmations) and stores the newsletter audience. Receives your email address and the message contents.
  • Plausible Analytics. Collects anonymous, cookie-free traffic statistics. No personal identifiers are sent.
  • Google. Used as a sign-in provider. If you sign in with Google, your name, email, and avatar are shared with us. We do not receive anything else from your Google account.
  • Stripe. Processes payments for paid listings and advertising. Card details are entered directly into Stripe — we never see them. Stripe shares back transaction status, billing email, and country.
  • Amazon Web Services (S3). Stores assets such as tool screenshots and uploaded media. No personal information is stored in S3.
  • Self-hosted infrastructure. The application database (PostgreSQL) and session cache (Redis) run on infrastructure we operate. Account and submission data lives there.

Cookies

We use a single first-party cookie to keep you signed in after you authenticate. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or session replay. Plausible analytics is cookieless.

Data retention

Account data is kept while your account exists. Submissions remain in the directory once published; you can request removal at any time. Newsletter subscribers are kept until you unsubscribe. Anonymous analytics are aggregated and retained indefinitely.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted. If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA, including the right to object to processing and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these, email hello@terminaldock.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and bump the "last updated" date at the top. Material changes will also be announced on the site.
